How Does The Process Work ?
Eye Lid - Eye Bag Removal Surgery
Blepharoplasty treats the droopy, sagging loose skin around eyes. It helps to correct vision in patients with sagging upper eyelids. Blepharoplasty is NOT useful in treating the crowfoot or other wrinkles on the outer edges of eye area or the dark circles under eyes, or lifting the sagging eyebrow. The most effective method for this problem is the botox application. As known, the effect of botox applications is temporary.
Aesthetic Eyelid Surgery varies depending on the particular needs of each patient. It can only be performed with the lower or upper eyelids or both parts, or it can be performed with other surgical interventions on the eye, forehead, eyebrow and nose. Eyelid surgery does not stop the aging process. But still, it minimizes the sagging and loose appearance on eyelids.
What Are the Things to be Considered before the Surgery?
Before the eyelid surgery, the position of the eyebrow is examined and, if necessary, treatment methods for the brow or forehead can be discussed. At this point, it is sometimes useful to know that the cause of skin build-up in the upper lid is due to looseness and downward displacement of the eyebrow. This issue is stated during the physical exam. Eyelid functions are examined before the procedure. Sometimes there may be dysfunctions and related eyelid asymmetries. These are evaluated and the extent to which can be improved is explained by the surgeon. Small or detailed additional procedures may be recommended to achieve better results with respect to the face. These may include different methods, from fat transfer on some facial parts to mid-face lift surgery.
Surgery is performed under general anesthesia or sedation. For this reason, the patient should stop eating 6-7 hours before and no liquid should be taken 5 hours before. Blood and blood clotting tests will be checked before the procedure. In addition, additional examinations may be required considering the patient's general health status and medical history. If the patient's medical history of major health problems and drugs that are used constantly, these facts should be reported to the physician. During the surgery, the surgeon separates the skin from the underlying fat tissue and muscles, then the fat is removed, the excess skin is cut. The number and type of stitches, that used to close the incisions, vary depending on the surgeon's decision.
The operation might last 30 minutes to 2 hours.
The expected result is the removal of the excess skin and muscle from both the upper and lower eyelids
